Frankie Goes To Hollywood were the first act to see their first three singles all reach Number 1 since Gerry & The Pacemakers in 1963. Two Tribes was their second hit, and it spent more weeks at Number 1 than any other in 1984 – nine.
Two Tribes reached the summit more quickly than ‘Relax’ and for two weeks the band had the top two singles (something only The Beatles and John Lennon had previously achieved).
