You’ve Got The Love is a cover of one of the most remixed songs of all time – Candi Staton’s You Got The Love. Originally released in 1986, Staton’s version was mashed with Frankie Knuckles’ Your Love in 1991 becoming a dancefloor classic, reaching Number 4.
The song has been remixed and covered various times over the years. But the biggest cover version ever was released in August 2009 and was performed by Florence + The Machine.
The single climbed the charts slowly, finally peaking at Number 5 for a week in January 2016 (it was used to soundtrack a pivotal moment in the Gavin & Stacey finale).
In February 2010 the song was performed as You Got The Dirtee Love with Dizzee Rascal at The Brits (it was a mash up of You’ve Got The Love and Dirtee Cash). The song was released as a single and it peaked at Number 2.
By August 2010 the song was still in the Top 100.
The song was continued to be streamed over the years. Finally, after around ten years on sale the song sold its combined millionth copy.
