James Arthur – Say You Won’t Let Go

say you won't let go

PEAK POSITION: Number 1 for three weeks in September/October 2016

COMBINED SALES: 1.8 million (July 2018)

RELEASE DATE: September 2016

WHEN DID IT REACH ONE MILLION SALES: January 2017

James Arthur had one of the most successful winners singles ever when he won The X Factor in 2012 with Impossible. He returned to the chart later in 2013 before spectularly allowing himself to implode and seriously damage his reputation with a series of stupid and ignorant comments and lyrics. He was dropped by Syco in 2014.

In September 2016 he returned to the chart with a superb modern day love song, Say You Won’t Let Go. He was re-signed by Syco whilst the song reached Number 1 after just three weeks on sale.

The song spent three weeks at the top and was downloaded by the million whilst spending 16 weeks in the Top 10. By the time the single made its combined millionth sale in January 2017 the single was still in the Top 20. As of March 2017 the single has spent 25 consecutive weeks in the Top 40.
